PACIFIC PEOPLES

GATHERING OF OUR TEACHERS

JULY 11 & 12 2026

The Haida Sails Resurgence Project, in partnership with Swiilawiid Sustainability Society is honoured to host the Gathering of Pacific Peoples at the Haida Heritage Centre in HlG̱aagilda, Haida Gwaii.

This gathering brings together the teachers, knowledge holders, navigators, weavers, sailors, and cultural practitioners who have contributed to the Haida Sails Resurgence Project and who continue to revitalize and strengthen Indigenous sailing, navigation, and weaving traditions across the Pacific.

Over two days, participants will gather to honour these teachers, celebrate the relationships that have been built across the Pacific, and share stories, knowledge, and experiences. Together, we will also explore the impacts of climate change on our communities and cultural practices, and discuss the ways Indigenous Peoples are responding with resilience, innovation, and ancestral knowledge.
